Banca Intesa Beograd is a bank operating in Serbia, majority owned (90%) by Italian Banca Intesa banking corporation since August 2005.
Banca Intesa Beograd is the leading bank on the domestic market and a reliable partner for 900.000 clients, natural persons and legal entities. It is a member of the newly founded Intesa Sanpaolo group and being the largest banking group in Italy and one of the strongest ones in Europe, it is ranked sixth in Europe according to the market value. This group has more than 18 million clients and a network of around 7.000 branches in 34 countries throughout the world, while it counts more than 6 million customers and 1.400 branches in the region of Central and Eastern Europe - in Serbia, Croatia, Slovakia, Albania, Romania, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, the Ukraine and Russia.
The first year within the large European banking group was a great turning point and a challenge for the Bank which successfully adjusted itself to the group’s way of work and business policy, and owing to the devotion and professionalism of all employees and its management team, an increase in all business segments was accomplished, record results were achieved and the leading position in the market maintained thanks to a good strategy, organisation, management, professional staff, as well as a well-developed business network consisting of 160 organisational units in more than 100 towns of Serbia, the most developed network of ATMs and POS terminals and a widespread network of correspondent banks all over the world. The development strategy was defined for the following three years, and according to this strategy, retail operations shall be intensified besides the corporate segment which earlier was the focus of their operations. After developing and adopting the new concept of organization and the more modern branch layout of the Bank, the intensive expansion and development of the network of Banca Intesa Beograd commenced, especially in Belgrade and Vojvodina.
The objective of Banca Intesa Beograd is to maintain the position of an important factor in the economic development of the country by means of new offers and activities. The plan of the bank is certainly to continue the trend of being a leader in the corporate segment in future and the long-term funds – 60 million euro of favourable loans granted by the Council of the Europe Development Bank (CEB) at the end of 2005 as well as a loan of 40 million euro from the European Investment Bank - shall contribute to that as well. Future plans consider additional increase of the market share in order to become the leader in retail as well, by 2008.
