On October 6, 1989, Azerdemiryolbank OJSC has started its activities under the name of Azjeldorbank Commercial Bank at the basis of license issued by USSR National Bank. During last 19 years of functioning, Azerdemiryolbank has seen an overall development and strengthened its positions in Azerbaijani banking market. Nowadays, Azerdemiryolbank OJSC is one of the largest banks in the country.

Since 1998, Azerdemiryolbank is a member of SWIFT worldwide inter-bank payment system. Azerdemiryolbank co-operates with such international money transfer system as Western Union, Migom, Bistraya pochta, Contact and Travelex which enables to ensure money transfer via these systems to any corner in the world within 5 – 7 minutes and have reasonable service tariffs. Furthermore, Azerdemiryolbank has established Shimshek money transfer system ensuring this transfer from one branch to another branch within 7 minutes in 2005.

For the first time in the national banking system, Azerdemiryolbank has published Ughur Yolu corporate magazine. In 2007, the Bank has earned the UGHUR Award on 2 nominations for its stable activities and services rendered to the social and economic development of regions in last 17 years.

Today, the Bank's financial performance is improving dynamically. In this regard, current bank assets exceed AZN200 million; its loan portfolio has passed the level of AZN150 million.
