Volksbank AG is one of the top five finance groups in Austria. Founded in 1922 as the central institution of the Volksbanks, it traditionally plays a leading role as partner to the Austrian economy and financer for companies of every size – from SMEs to major corporations.

Strategy and Vision

The VBAG group’s strategy is based upon the values of the Volksbanken Verbund as well as the declarations of its co-operative founding principles: Trust, co-operation and assistance. Their motto “United in trust“ reflects the central element of their group strategy in relation to their customers, staff members, as well as our internal and external stakeholders.

At the same time, VBAG also has to address the increasing pressure from competition, advancing globalisation, increasing regulatory requirements, as well as the increasing requirements of ating agencies.

They therefore principally measure their success across two dimensions:

• In their function as a central institution in the Volksbank sector: Only by a strong co-operation within the association of Volksbanks is the credit union sector able to realise its full force and strength.
• In their function as an important partner for their customers, both domestic and foreign: In this case the group must position itself in a strong domestic and international competitive environment and also always prove to its customers anew that it is capable of creating added value by means of efficiency, quality and innovation.
