JSC Akciju komercbanka Baltikums

The private bank JSC Akciju komercbanka Baltikums started its business in the 90s thanks to the joint efforts of present shareholders of Baltikums Bank and Insurance Group, who are experts in the marine and insurance business. Acting as founders and managers in a number of Latvian and international financial investment and production companies since 1991, the Bank founders have gained a valuable experience in investment and risk management, asset management, capital safe keeping and accumulation.

This was a good starting point to establish a new bank and bank holding in Latvia in 2001, which would specialize in bank and investment services to affluent customers and owners of private businesses operating primarily on the world market. Their first customers were ship owners, shipping agents, cotton and oil dealers, warehouse and logistic center owners.

Development of the Latvian economy facilitated the establishment of a Bank that would mostly work with international customers. The bank sector that renders competitive services to individual and corporate customers has already been formed in Riga by that time owing to its strong transit business tradition and opportune geographic location. The country became a full-fledged EU member state in 2004; and Riga turned into a regional bank center. The stable political regime and legislation resulted in an influx of foreign investments into the Baltic States, a rapid GDP growth and an appearance of skilled professionals in a number of spheres.

From 1999, the Group offers to wealthy customers the investment brokerage, individual asset and capital management services, and from summer 2007 – wealth management services at a new JSC Akciju komercbanka Baltikums and JSC Baltikums Bankas Grupa joint business division – Baltikums Private Bank.

Ship and trade finance and co-operation with companies of other industries have been at the core of JSC Akciju komercbanka Baltikums operations since its foundation by shareholders, private investors and businessmen who established businesses both in Latvia and abroad.

The Bank’s main services include funding of fixed and working capital, project financing, raising funds for business development, financial consulting, and investment project management.

The Bank provides multipurpose services in international trade finance: performs international payment transactions and all types of documentary operations, as well as currency exchange.  In terms of geography, they focus on the EU (including the Baltic countries) and the CIS.

Investment Banking: They offer financial consulting, direct investment and real estate investment management services to both individual and corporate clients.
